Liz + Doug | Engagement | Louisville, KY

Before portrait sessions, we always suggest that folks pick places that are important to them: places where they like to hang out and that give them good vibes. This helps these sessions feel a bit more meaningful and personal. For us, it is always a treat to discover these spots and to find out what they mean to people. Liz + Doug took us to several really hip Louisville spots. First, we went to Goss Avenue Antiques & Interiors where Liz likes to get lost and dig around in all of its rad stuff. This suits her because we really dig her Mad Men-esque style and look! Doug, the drummer in a rocking Louisville outfit, CABIN, enjoys checking out the music gear there, too. Next, we found out that Carmichael’s Bookstore isn’t just any old bookstore to these two. It’s where Doug smoothly planted a ring and note into a journal that an attendant suggested to Liz: a pretty incredible proposal for these bookworms! Then to Nachbar, where Liz + Doug get to enjoy their other favorite things: beer and their doggies. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and hanging out with these two. Other persons who enjoy them as much as we do might also like to see the rest of this set in the Client Gallery. Congrats Liz + Doug and we’ll see you soon!

Julie + Justin | Wedding | Louisville, KY

Julie + Justin (and their fams) are some of the best planners we’ve worked with at a wedding. That said, some things you just can’t predict. Despite checking calendars twice, they later found out that the route of the Louisville Tap ‘n’ Run would intersect with their ceremony site, Highland Baptist Church. This, friends, was a happy accident. In fact, their entire day was full of smiles starting at the stylish and super hip 21C Museum Hotel in downtown Louisville. From there, they had a great first look and walk-around in the museum district allowing them to stand out in their duds. The big laughs started when we all arrived at the church at the same time as the leaders of the beer run. With very little arm twisting, we took Julie + Justin right out into the mix. Their ceremony was gorgeous, moving, and colorful thanks to Highland’s amazing stained glass windows. The Commonwealth Musicians provided lovely ceremony music and flowers from In Bloom Again adorned the sanctuary and the reception. A short jaunt back to the heart of the city led the party to the Muhammad Ali Center where Mirabelle Catering made the eats and P. Ann & The All-Star Band brought the beats. Our buddies from the Magnolia Photo Booth helped the laughs continue. From their Engagement Session to the wedding, we’ve had a blast getting to know them and their incredibly nice families. Friends and family can check out the rest of the day’s happenings in the Client Gallery. We sincerely wish the best for these two and were glad to be a part of this. Congrats Julie + Justin!

Jeff, Lisa, + Ben | Portraits | Bloomington, IN

Small won “most likely to stay a kid” as her senior superlative and if Tall weren’t, well, you know, so tall, he might have stood a chance in that vote. Nevertheless, we both love photo sessions that involve lots of running around and playing. Ben kept us all moving which was a great treat on a lovely, Fall afternoon in Bloomington.

Stacey + Jake | Wedding | Bloomington, IN

It’s always nice to be at Deer Park Manor in Bloomington and it was especially nice to be there to document Stacey + Jake’s lovely autumn wedding. Stacey + Jake are track superstars who you might remember from their very fun engagement session on the Indiana University track where Jake is a coach. Their wedding was very beautiful and had tons of help from family friends. John Pfeffenburger played the ceremony music, Vickie Williams provided the catering, Rita Chambers, Jake’s grandmother, took care of the beautiful flowers, and Jake’s father helped officiate! Other family and friends contributed with great toasts, laughs, and very colorful beverages brought in jars which we were told were delicious fruit juices. To compliment energy received from the fruit juice, DJ Brett’s jams got people fired up on the dance floor. Family and friends can check out the rest from their wedding in the client gallery. We’re very happy for Stacey + Jake and wish them the very best!

Jess + Dave | Engagement | Charlottesville, VA

To some, they’re Jessica and David, but we’re on a nickname basis with these two. We had a ton of fun catching up with Jess and Dave while walking and driving around Charlottesville for their engagement session. Jess and Dave are an incredibly fun and funny couple who met at small’s alma mater: the University of Mary Washington! We hit up some of their favorite C-ville spots including the downtown mall, parks, some nearby hilly countryside, and Christian’s Pizza (which is delicious, btw). Family and friends can check out more laughs and general adorableness in the client gallery. Many congrats Jess + Dave!
